OrBit is a dance film that applies theatrical techniques to VR creation. With movement choreography at its core, we choreographed the dancers and the 360-degree camera simultaneously, exploring a brand-new cinematic language for VR.
Who are you? Did you stumble into another’s world, or are you just as trapped as the rest of us?
The creation of OrBit began with viewing dance as a process of shifting elements in space, simultaneously designing the choreography for both the dancers and the camera, treating the camera as a virtual character to explore the tension between the lens and the subject. Through this work, FELTTIME aimed to test attention guidance in panoramic viewing and explore the cinematic language of 360-degree cameras.
OrBit has been selected for the 38th Festival International du Film sur l'Art (FIFA) in Montreal, Canada, and the 17th Cinedans Festival in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was also invited for a private industry screening by the UK's official XR incubation platform, Digital Catapult, with attending organizations including the renowned Sadler's Wells Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Philharmonia Orchestra, Arts Council England, and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Additionally, Eyeballs has been exhibited at various venues such as the Shanghai International Film Festival, Sandglass Immersive Media Exhibition (SIEM), Hangzhou International Theatre Festival, TX Huaihai, and M50, and is soon to be featured at the inaugural China Digital Art Exhibition.
